Ye Dil Mera Pakistani Drama
Yi Del Mira written by Farhat Ishtiaq, directed by Ahsan Taleesh, and produced by MD Productions. He's been on the air for 12 weeks and he's been quite a buzz and for all the right reasons. Ye Dil Mera is a tale of love and revenge, set in a kind of mystery and excitement. It also gives viewers an in-depth insight into the life of a person suffering from PTSD. Dramas like Ye Dil Mera are rare on Pakistani TV and it is definitely commendable that more and more writers are exploring these topics.
I watched Ye Dil Mera voraciously, but before I start with the overview, I want to mention that all this while the drama was on the air, I managed to get away with all kinds of spoiler alerts. I haven't even seen promotions or follow any news about them so when I watch them I create my own opinion about them.
However, I will say that so far, I have found Ye Dil Mera interesting, cleverly written, brilliantly oriented, and perfectly executed. I was never disappointed with what I was going through because Ferhat Ishtiaq definitely knows how to bring such stories to the table.
Every Ye Dil Mera character has been written in detail. Even though I didn't know about the story but somehow, while watching it from the start, I got to know what the suspense might be. Not by any means that the story is predictable but the way the drama was directed with so much detail and the way the actors portrayed their characters on screen, made it very easy to connect the dots and solve the puzzle.
All this while watching Ye Dil Mera, I couldn't help but notice and appreciate the fact that the plot has so much clarity in every aspect of its execution. I also found clarity in the expressions and feelings the actors conveyed, and for me that was the biggest factor in discovering the story.
It was the clarity in their acting that really gave the story and that too in a way that the writer and director wanted. Ye Dil Mera is definitely an intelligently written script and the writer has handled it perfectly.
Ye Dil Mera Characters and preliminary plot:
The whole life of Mir Farouk Zaman (Adnan Siddiq) revolves around his daughter Nour Ein Zaman / Anna (Sajal Ali). Being an only child, she has been pampered throughout her life and her father made sure that she would not face any difficulties.Anna lost her mother when she was five years old and since then, Mir Farooq has been very careful in dealing with his daughter. Anna suffers from anxiety, is unable to sleep properly for weeks, and feels that her nightmares foretells mainly a miserable experience in her life. Anna's father wants her to get better, but on his own terms. Anna visits psychiatrist Dr. Arslan (Muhammad Ahmad).
The other two important people in the lives of Mir Farouk and Anna are Narges Bua (Naima Khan) and Ali Baksh (Paras Masrour). Narcissus Bua is Anna's nanny but is like a mother figure to her. Ali Bakhsh is Mir Farouk's right-hand man and he is very loyal to his boss.
Although Anna grew up with a lot of love and care, she never once appeared as a spoiled brat, she is in fact a girl with dreams and aspirations.

Amanullah Khan (Ahad Reza Mir) is an orphan who built a business empire at a young age. He expanded his business by investing the money he inherited from his deceased uncle. Uncle Amanullah was married to a British man with a good financial background.
After completing his engineering degree, Amanullah returned to Pakistan and established his company. Aman Allah trusts Ghouri (Farhan Ali Agha) and all his family members.
Guri also happens to be close friends with Mir Farouk. Amanullah lost his father, mother and younger sister when he was 11 years old. The person responsible for the killing of the entire Amanullah family is Mir Farouk.
This suspense factor, when done right, is the greatest strength in drama. If the team behind the drama is able to play with the crowd's mind and spark their curiosity, this indicates that the drama makers have complete control over the script and are playing their cards well.
Ye Dil Mera's story is different, but what makes it better is that everything is revealed at the right time, which is also when the audience least expects it.

Brilliantly executed drama:
Now that the introductory details of the characters are out of the way, I'll say I totally enjoyed watching Ye Dil Mera. It's the drama that makes you crave every episode week after week. There were some of the most interesting scenes that I couldn't get out of my mind. The first is Anna's meeting with the psychiatrist. Sagal Ali's representation in this entire scene was very powerful. I also had a knot in my stomach when I saw Mir Farouk and Ali Baksh kill the Aman Allah family.
Usually such scenes are directed in such a way that the murders are not actually seen, but the fact that there was no censorship and the director took his time to show every expression of the killers made it extremely moving. All of the scenes covering the emerging relationship between Anna and God’s Safety were beautiful, too.
Show how Aman was making his way smoothly into Anna's life. The thing I found interesting was how Aman was able to see Mir Farouk through Anna's eyes. As for his daughter, he is a hero as for Aman he is a villain, a villain who killed his entire family without mercy. Farouk's appropriation of Anna at times also made it clear that it stemmed from the guilt he felt.
He is left to know what really happened with Anna's mother and how she died, but according to Mir Farooq's statement that he does not forgive when he feels cheating makes it very clear that he might have killed his wife as well.
The psychiatrist's analysis of his lies was spot on. Mir Farouk tricked Anna into believing his version before her, perhaps because it interests him more than others.
He planned it all the time and now with his plans slowly and surely revealed, when you come back and analyze, you can totally see every emotion appearing in Aman expressions. I think it was easier for me to keep all of these details in my mind because I watched all the episodes back-to-back so everything had a much greater impact and these little details stayed with me.
The moment he closed his eyes with Anna for the first time, he gave the command that he was eager to get her attention to him in such a way that she was actually forced to think about him. Farhat showed all the characters' longing in a completely different light, from all perspectives and angles.

Ye Dil Mera Pakistani Best Drama
The clarity that I talked about in the beginning is the best part for me in the entire drama. I could fully see Aman's hatred for Mir Farouk even before it became clear what he had done. It was also brilliantly executed that Aman, who was very meticulous in his planning, did not bump into the people around Mir Farouk by chance. He planned it all the time and now with his plans slowly and surely revealed, when you come back and analyze, you can totally see every emotion appearing in Aman expressions. It complements the picture in an easy way and makes predicting what will happen next much more interesting. The thrill and excitement component is perfectly done in Ye Dil Mera and very few drama makers are able to achieve it flawlessly.
What sets Ye Dil Mera apart and makes it so powerful a drama is the fact that there is a lot more to the story. The writer didn't just focus on PTSD of God Safety or Anna's anxiety. Farhat Estegar has turned it into a very realistic story as it encompasses all the emotions one feels. There were some sweet moments between Amaan & Ana.
Some of the feelings shared by Mir Farouk and Anna or even Nargis Bua. The way Aman’s story is conveyed and all the details revealed shows that there is so much more left to be discovered that makes it so eye-catching. Ana & Nargis Bua's relationship was definitely the highlight in the initial scenes, and the way she took care of Anna and was always vigilant about her needs was sweet. I am keen to find out why Aman has in his heart Nargis Bua.
It shows he knows her and respects her but I want to know about the relationship. I also love how Anna's character is complete and well-rounded. She has her own fears and demons that haunt her but nevertheless, she never let any of them defeat her. She tries to fight, and she admits things may not be right but is trying her best to handle everything.

Her belief in Aman was also beautiful. It was great to see her feeling protected and safe about Aman. Anna found that Aman was like her father, she knew he would take care of her, which is why she forgot her fears when she was with him.
Aman sometimes felt guilty when he learned how much he trusted Anna. He knows that his intentions are to hurt Mir Farouk which will hurt Anna in the end.
